We usually say 'turn left for good food' as this is the direction to all the places that do good food. These places have made our list as we know we can rely on them to be consistently great in all areas.
The New Inn, Cross - great food, service, atmosphere and beer. New selected ales in each week and very dog friendly. Must book on Sundays
The Railway Inn, Sandford - Thatchers own pub, full range of ciders as expected and very good food. Dog friendly in the bar. Must Book.
The Swan, Roberrow - A Butcombe Pub, traditional pub, great beer and good food, dog friendly in the bar. Good walking nearby.
The Swan, Wedmore - gastro pub, good food, service and dog friendly.
Cheddar is your best place for takeaways and it's still piping hot by the time you get back to Biddisham! All of these restaurants are meters away from each other.
Riverside Chinese - 01934 743958 - try their sour and sweet chicken and crispy seaweed.
The Shanaz - Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine with a good vegetarian and fish menu.
Tuckers - the best fish and chips in Cheddar
Lao Thai - thai cusine and takeaway
If you happen to be in Winscombe, the fish and chips there are fantastic too!
It is possible to walk to Crooks Peak from Biddisham Lane along the footpath at the every end of the lane towards Cross. Make sure you have ordinance survey map or app. Other great walking spots for dogs are.
Please note, there are usually cattle or sheep around, please keep your dog on a lead near sheep and be respectful of the countryside and farm animals by picking up after your dog.
Kings Wood, top of Shute Shelve Hill on the left - perfect access to the Strawberry line and Wavering down. Car Park gets very busy.
Brean and Berrow Beach - perfcet to let your dogs run free. Park in the National Trust car park, have change for parking.
Black Rock , Cheddar - At the top of Cheddar Gorge on the left. Parking on the side of the road.
Biddisham is only 45 minutes from the centre of Bristol which is great for shopping. Also only one hours drive from Bath which is always worth a day out.
Wedmore is a village with a number of shops and good pubs and is on the way to Wells which has a good selection of independent shops. Nearby is Clarks Village in Street, great for some bargains.
Supermarkets are in Cheddar, Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare, all within 20 minutes.
PLACES TO VISIT
Tyntesfield House - one of the most interesting and vast National Trust properties with a Gothic house, beautiful chapel and walled kitchen garden. There is a great cafe and good ground for walking.
Somerset Levels - great for walking and wildlife spotting
Banwell Castle -The best Cream Tea in Somerset and there are peacocks.
The River Axe in Biddisham is a hard fish, plenty around but they don't like to bite! We do have Pike, perch, chub and an eel or two. Here are some recommended fishing lakes nearby.
